Adult Beginners

Supporting those who haven’t formally studied languages since school to develop confidence and fluency in all four skill components; listening, reading, speaking and writing.

I work with those who want to learn at leisure, or those who have a specific goal in mind i.e. for holiday purposes or retiring to the country.

Learning a language from scratch or after a long break requires motivation, commitment and an end goal (whether that is personal or professional). I will help you clarify what you need and want from your sessions. You may find my 12 week beginners course a good place to start or I can meet you where you are at, having taken one of the recommended language assessment tests listed on my website here.

What can I offer?

  • In-person or online sessions focused on a specific skill area tailored to your goals or a general week-by-week course plan that incorporates all four skill components

  • Recommendations on how to improve self-study and practice tips outside of sessions

  • WhatsApp support in between sessions for general queries and homework support

  • Regular feedback for improvement and an end of course (12 week plan) written report

Benefits of learning languages later in life

  • Increased cognitive development and helping to delay the onset of memory loss in later life

  • Enhanced problem solving and multi-tasking skills

  • Better attention and focus

  • Deeper cultural understanding and empathy for other people outside of your own country

  • Enriched travel experiences which enable you to communicate with hosts or new connections whilst on holiday or living overseas
