Primary KS1 + KS2

Building on from Early Years support, At age 5, children transition to primary school up to the age of 11. Some primary schools offer bilingual streams or language classes, but these are less common than in the nursery setting. In the UK, a bi-lingual education isn’t part of the standard curriculum within the state sector. I am happy to advise on private French/Italian primary education providers in and around London.

I continue to teach languages through fun and interactive play but now start to introduce learning across the four skill components of speaking, listening, writing and reading.

  • Use a wide range of vocabulary and simple sentences.

  • Learn about the country and the culture

  • Initiate simple conversations

  • Use proper pronunciation and intonation

  • Respond appropriately to spoken language

  • Apply simple aspects of grammar

What can I offer?

  • In-person or online school support facilitation across London (flexible ad hoc availability or can book regular slots).

  • Teaching through play, games, singing and reading story sessions in the target language which seamlessly integrates with their day-to-day routines (face-to-face or online).

  • Reading resource recommendations and support for an enhanced immersive experience that supports home learning.

  • Supporting non-native parents with bi-lingual coaching on best approaches for maximising your child’s proficiency and learning trajectory.

Benefits of a bi-lingual primary education

  • Proficiency in both languages (bilingualism)

  • Academic and cognitive development in core subjects

  • Cross-cultural awareness and appreciation of both cultures
